French jeweler and Judaic artist, Jean (Hebrew name, Yonatan) trained at the prestigious Ecole du Louvre and worked in some of the most famous artist studios in Europe including Cartier and Van Cleef. He has also designed bracelet archetypes for the Swiss watch industry. When Jean decided to create a collection all his own, it was the memories of when he lived in Eretz, Israel that would kindle his artistic vision.
Encouraged by centuries of Jewish art, the Yonatan Collection was created in 1990 along with the artistís creative partner and muse, Leslie. The collection draws inspiration from the interwoven elements of art, symbol and spirit and is named for the artistís Hebrew name, Yonatan, which he signs on every hand finished piece. More about the Yonatan Collection
The Yonatan Collection is the original creator of the Chai Heart and Chai Ball. Yonatan is the only Judaic artist to have transformed the Jewish symbol that connects the two Hebrew letters of life and luck with the heart, a universal symbol of love. In July 2009, Jeanís signature Chai Heart traveled aboard the shuttle Endeavor for a 16 day travel in space. The Yonatan Collection has received numerous awards including being a two time recipient of the International Pearl Design Contest in Tokyo. The duo behind the Yonatan Collection has inspired future generations of metal smiths through mentoring programs at various art colleges.
