About Michael Bromberg

Born in 1961 in Odessa in the former Soviet Ukraine, Michael Bromberg earned his Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering at the Odessa University and worked as a production engineer in a machine plant for six years.

Jewelry design and jewelry making were always his affections but in the former Soviet Union it was illegal to possess precious metals in any but the smallest quantities. A designer could work for the government producing approved traditional designs on one of the state jewelry plants but could not legally pursue this art independently without risking imprisonment.

After taking refuge in the USA from the Soviet Union in 1989, Michael decided to pursue his jewelry designing career and founded Danco Gallery, a jewelry design company with a retail jewelry store in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. For three years, he was designing and hand crafting one of a kind museum reproductions for such customers as H.Stern Jewelers and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

When in 1994 Michael decided to design his own collection of contemporary silver jewelry, the collection met with great success. Michael decided to sell the store in order to devote himself full time to the designing and manufacturing of jewelry. His engineering background helped him to develop technology and start production of his first collection of sterling silver watches.

Since then, Michael's jewelry has been sold in such stores as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Barney's, the Chicago Museum Of Contemporary Art, Weisman Art Museum and numerous upscale arts and crafts galleries and boutiques in Europe, Japan and United States.

Michael Bromberg has been the winner of the Accent Magazine Annual Silver Jewelry and Watch Design Competition for several years in a row.
